One Win, One Loss for U14 Stingers in Opening Weekend
Submitted By Deb McCarthy on Sunday, October 16, 2016
In their season home-opener, on October 15th, the Stingers came out with a vengeance as they defeated Kitchener in Monkton.

Within the first minute of the game Jenna Regele scored, assisted by Brianna Cook. Cook scored the second goal, with help from Gwenyth McKay, to end off the first period. Laura McCarthy found the net with 8 minutes left to make it 3-0. Regele assisted the final goal. Amberleigh Dearing earned her first shut out of the season, with great defensive play by Samantha McCarthy, Sydney Smith, Laura McCarthy and McKay.
On Sunday, the team travelled to Goderich to take on the Ice Crushers.  Goderich netted the first ring early in the game, and then a second and third before the Stingers gained their momentum near the end of the period, as McKay scored with the help of Samantha McCarthy.  Laura McCarthy was able to find the net with assistance from Cook in the second period, but it wasn't enough as Goderich scored once more to come out on top with a 4-2 victory.
