Stingers Stay Strong
Submitted By Deb McCarthy on Sunday, February 12, 2017
The Schoonderwoerd Bros U14 Stingers earned themselves a tie and a win this weekend. On Friday night, they met the Goderich Ice Crushers in a grueling match.  The Stingers started out strong, scoring the only two goals of the first period.

Brianna Cook and Laura McCarthy each earned the markers, with an assist going to Joy Belfour.  The second period ended up becoming mostly a defensive match up, but the Ice Crushers found the net with only 6 minutes left.  After pulling the goalie at the end of the game, Goderich was able to even the score after a scramble in front of the net with just 23 seconds remaining on the clock.  On Sunday, the Stingers travelled to Hanover to take on the Heat, coming home with a 4-3 win.  Laura McCarthy was on her game, scoring a hat trick for the visiting team, with Sydney Smith adding the fourth.  Assists were credited to Samantha McCarthy (1) and Emma Goetz (2).
